First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Thomas Dawson and I was born and raised on Vancouver Island. As well as being a writer and author, I’ve taught photography workshops alongside of some of the best and well known Canadian and American landscape photographers such as Kevin McNeal and Adam Gibbs. I’m also an avid traveller who enjoys a simple and healthy, but adventurous lifestyle. You can read about some of my adventures, my spiritual and worldly philosophies not to mention some of the most comprehensive information you’re ever likely to find on the topics of health, authentic confidence and well-being in my ‘Getting Real in the Unreal World’ series of books. I’ve been diligently studying the keys to health since 1991.For those of you who are nature lovers and who’ve lived on Vancouver Island at some point in time, you probably already know about the abundance of waterfalls here on ‘the island’, but if not, this guide will help you to find a whole lot more of them! I’ve given accurate and clear instructions as to how you can get to all the best accessible waterfalls from Strathcona Park near Campbell River all the way down to Port Renfrew on the Southern end of the island. When I say accessible, I’m talking about walks or hikes to waterfalls that the average person can manage.The tougher to get to waterfalls will go into a different e-book. Some of the trails are a little more challenging than others, but all in all, most people should be able to get to a fairly high percentage of the locations listed. In the foreword to the book, I talked about my rating system for level of ease or difficulty for getting to each location. If there are difficult sections or obstacles along the route to the waterfall, I’ve mentioned them. On some of the more challenging locations to locate, such as Triple Falls near Errington, I’ve added several photos of key points which will help you to find your way there. I also added some handy and practical safety information as well as a list of the things that you might want bring along on your hikes. To help you decide where to go, I’ve listed the nearest towns to the waterfalls, some distances and driving times not to mention whether or not there are bathrooms or outhouses located near the areas where you’ll be parking. To top it all off, I decided to add some great tips on how to take better waterfall photos in addition to when the best times of the year are for visiting the waterfalls as well as why.
